Day 10 by you.

I am quite happy with it. I have only tried 1 game with it so far, but the spacial 7.1  sound is good. Later today I will give some DVD’s a try. The most impressive is the overal quality for music. The base is very good and the sound seperation is excellent. I can hear detail in my favorite songs I never noticed before.

Also in the gadget department, is the most awesome Android app I have found so far:

Per Gessle / Roxette concert Amsterdam may 6th 2009

Emma and myself went to see Per Gessle in Amsterdam.

Both of us have been Roxette fans for many years, and we always regretted not ever having seen them live.
It had started to look like we never would, after Marie’s cancer, it didnt look like they would ever perform as Roxette again, its been 7 years since the last album and tour.

However, to our delight, it was rumored and then confirmed by Per on his Twitter, that Marie would very likely make an appearance at one of his shows. This turned out to be Amsterdam, and how fortunate we where to be there!

I made lots of video too (link here):

An amazing night. A small intimate crowd of true fans, only about 500 of us. Considder that for a moment when you realise that Roxette would play to a crowd of 100.000 during their hay day.

Marie was obviously not used to being on the stage, but she warmed up and for 2 songs, Roxette was back again. We will be seeing more of them this year, they are a mainline act on the Night of the Proms

As you can see in the slideshow, me and Emma got our favorite album books signed, and I filmed Emma meeting Per, so check out the playlist above.

First Tolkien books arrive! Pics and video

So, as I mentioned in my last blog post, I had ordered a bunch of Tolkien books from Amazon.

None of those have arrived yet, and I am getting a little anxious. However, as I also said, that I was considering getting this collectors edition set, while they where still available.

Well I took the dive, and ordered it from Tolkienlibrary.com

It arrived yesterday, and I am very impressed and very happy!

First, the pictures:

I am very impressed with the quality. The paper is a bright white and high quality. Illustrations are color printed and the maps are highly detailed, and the detail is not lost as the paper quality is so good. Each book is held in its own container that is tough cardboard.

Here is my unpack or “Haul” video:

Screentoaster test

I go an email a while back from Screentoaster, a startup that is producing a very easy to use, web-based product that allows you to capture screen imput with sound and video.
I registered and gave it a go this evening. Below is the result ( if you cant see the inbedded video below, click here )
The recording stopped halfway through, so you are warned. This was only a test though.

In the video below, I attempt to show of Microsoft Live mesh.

I am impressed so far. It works well, but the total upload is limited to 20mb, and how fast you use that up of course, depends on how large resolution you use, and if you include sound. Right now its not easy to see how much room you have, or to stop and start recordings on the fly. But this product is bran new, so it can only get better.
Give it a try yourself at http://www.screentoaster.com/

2 unlikely videos I was suprised to love

First up, food. Dan Barber is such an amazing speaker to listen to, very entertaining and provocative talk.

Next up, Fragrance. I love how Chandler Burr starts out as already a very great and natural speaker. By the end of the video, his exitement has infected you. I wont ever think of Chanel No. 5 the same way again.

Visiting Gordon, place of madness

This weekend, me and Lia went to visit Gordon down in Oxford.
The place was as one would expect, if 3 (or more, I lost count) gamer, metal, stoner guys lived together. I felt right at home 🙂
We spent most the evening and the next day indoctrinating Nick with Battlestar Galactica, and spent the rest of the second day looking for Disk 2 of the second Battlestar Season, unsuccesfully. Today, me, Nick and Lia have spent cathing up on Battlestar all the way to season 4.. omg what a cliffhanger.
